Sugar …..its taking over

From marinara sauce to peanut butter sugar is EVERYWHERE causing obesity rates in the USA to skyrocket so high there has been talk of having to “weigh-in” before you are allowed on an airplane!

So here is the deal guys we HAVE to learn to start reading the nutrition labels on EVERYTHING down to your kids tomato soup! The average can of Campbells Tomato Soup has over 30g of sugar!!! No wonder obesity is on the rise and our children can’t focus these days. Rates of obesity are raising Worldwide but more so in the United States. Nearly 40% of American adults 20 and older are considered obese AND 72% of all adults 20 and older are considered Overweight. Looking at those numbers continues to not only blow my mind but also break my heart. Mostly because the majority of obesity cases can be prevented.

Sugar causes our body to produce less of the hormone leptin which is the main hunger blocking hormone in our bodies, sugar also causes our blood sugar levels to spike. Which then starts the vicious cycle of sugar addiction.

Also too much sugar is linked to an increased amount of visceral fat, a kind of deep belly fat associated with conditions like diabetes and heart disease

Another reason not to consume too much sugar is it speeds up the aging process!!! Yep you heard that right poor food choices can worsen wrinkles and speed up the aging process and who the heck wants that?!? What all for a milky way..no thank you.

Not sure how sugar has anything to do with aging?…..Well heres the deal :

Advanced glycation end (AGEs) products are compounds formed by reactions between sugar and protein in your body. They are suspected to play a key role in skin aging. Consuming a diet high in refined carbs and sugar leads to the production of AGEs, which may cause your skin to age prematurely.
AGEs damage collagen and elastin, which are proteins that help the skin stretch and keep its youthful appearance.
When collagen and elastin become damaged, the skin loses its firmness and begins to sag.

As you can see besides tasting good there is NOTHING good about sugar! Think about all of this the next time you pick up the 3 lb bag of M&Ms. 🙂
